Delivering Against Our Goals

“Water for All” Program

Since 2018, Parex has invested in infrastructure to improve access to safe, reliable drinking water through the Agua Para Todos (“Water for All”) Program. This program has supplied over 33,000 local stakeholders with clean water in communities surrounding our Colombian operations.

“Works for Taxes” Program

Under the Colombian Government’s Works for Taxes Program and in coordination with local and national authorities, Parex continues to invest in projects that benefit local communities. Since the Program’s inception, Parex has invested in multiple projects to help improve access to education, access to water and infrastructure. Since 2018, we’ve invested approximately COP 310,500 million (~US$74 million).

Driving Energy Solutions: Parex Resources' Innovation Fellowship

In October 2019, to honor Parex’s ten-year anniversary and demonstrate our dedication to promoting innovation & creativity the energy sector, we launched the Parex Innovation Fellowship in partnership with the University of Calgary. These fellowships, supported by a $3.24 million endowment from Parex along with our Chairman and former U of C alumnus Wayne Foo, are intended to help researchers focus on innovation and technology-transfer activities. The fellowships provide researchers and students resources to focus on solving some of the world’s most complex challenges in areas including data science and analytics, cybersecurity, and energy sources.

Katie Bernard

Senior Vice President, New Ventures

Ms. Bernard joined Parex in 2021 and is currently the Senior Vice President, New Ventures, leading a cross-functional team to identify and evaluate new business opportunities within and outside of Latin America. With over 29 years of industry experience, Ms. Bernard has built an extensive background in negotiating and managing upstream commercial agreements and contracts for E&P companies, including accountabilities for all relevant new business development, new ventures and commercial issues with partners, governments, and competitors.

Prior to joining Parex in 2021, Ms. Bernard held roles of increasing responsibility with Shell International Exploration & Production, where she contributed to both new business development and the communication of the overall strategic direction for RDS Group and its Upstream International business to the external community. She has also held roles with several international companies including CEPSA, Moore Stephens, and Amec.

Ms. Bernard holds a Masters of Science in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts Honors degree in Geography from the University College of London. In addition, Ms. Bernard holds a Non-Executive Director Diploma having completed the Pearson SRF BTEC Board Director Program.
